If you’re anything like me you’ve got about a billion quotes tucked here and there waiting for the right project. Instead of keeping them hidden away, I decided now would be a good time to start displaying some of my favorites. By using a canvas, or any other material imaginable, you can quickly create a masterpiece for your home reflecting things you believe in.
Supplies
Canvas
Patterned Paper
Paint
Gel medium (or other decoupage adhesive)
Texture paste
Stamp
Letters
Mist

Step One: Rip pieces from the patterned paper and adhere to canvas using gel medium. Don’t worry about arrangement; just have fun layering pieces of paper to get some texture, pattern, and color going.
This is what my piece looked like when complete:

Step Two: Apply gesso thinly to the canvas with your fingers. I chose to focus mainly on the areas I knew I was placing the raindrops and text.
Step Three: Brush a blue shade of mist onto the canvas with a paintbrush. Run some pearl paint onto the canvas.

Step Four: Load a cloud stamp with paint and stamp onto canvas. Please note you may have to put something sturdy under the canvas to get a good impression.

Step Five: Apply molding paste through a raindrop stencil in select areas of the canvas. Try to create some type of triangle with these patches of raindrops. This will give the canvas balance.
Set the canvas aside to dry.

Step Six: Spray mist on the raindrops to give them color. After you have done this, hold your mist bottle close to the canvas and spray. Angle the canvas so the mist runs down.

Step Seven: Add letters to the canvas, in an arch shape, to spell the word rainbow. Add the other text from the quote with a fine tip paintbrush.
In as little as seven steps you’ll have a beautiful piece to spruce up your home. But if you’re not really in to doing canvases check out these projects where the same techniques were put to work on a LO and ATC:
